Abstract

Everyone's need for cosmetics one of them is lip care products, such as lip balm, which are often used to prevent and treat dry and chapped lips. To avoid side effects that are quite dangerous, from lip balm products, natural dyes that are healthier and safer have been used as substitutes for synthetic dyes. The anthocyanins contained in red cabbage have the potential as red natural dyes that have a positive side as antioxidants against free radicals. Research objective to determine the correct formulation of lip balm preparations 70% ethanol extract of red cabbage as a natural dye. And to determine the stability of the lipbalm formulation using 70% red cabbage (Brassica oleracea L.) ethanol extract as a natural dye in storage for 4 weeks. Method this research is material testing methods including organoleptic test, homogeneity test, melting point test, pH test, grease test, irritation test for Preparations and stability test for preparations. This research and testing was carried out from October 2021 to January 2022. This research was conducted at the Research Laboratory of the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of 17 August 1945 Jakarta, Jalan Sunter Permai Raya, North Jakarta, BRIN (National Innovation Research Center) Cibinong, Bogor. Research Result 70% ethanol extract of red cabbage (Brassica olearecea L.) can be formulated in lip balm preparations and Lip balm formulation of 70% ethanol extract of red cabbage (Brassica olearecea L.) is stable in storage in the freeze thaw cycling method.
