Abstract
Head hair plays important roles in forming social picture as symbol of beauty for women and virility for men. One of the problem with hair is hair loss. Bitter melon leaf has empirical effect to alleviate hair loss. Because of that, this research is conducted by making four hair gel formulations containing 96% ethanol extract of bitter melon leaf with Carbopol concentration of 0.5%, 1%, 1.5%, and 2% as gel base. The methods used in the evaluation of gels are organoleptic, homogeneity, viscosity, spreadability test, pH, and physical stability test using Cycling test method, at temperature of 4° C ± 2 °C, 27 °C ± 2 °C and 40 °C ± 2 °C. After that physical quality test is reconducted to get stability value of the hair gels. Based on the research, formula III with 1.5% Carbopol have highest physical stability compared to three other formulas.
