Abstract
SEREH WANGI (Cymbopogon Khasianus) plant has fertile grow up in Indonesia but has not used in a good use even though has a high economic value. The main components content geraniol and citronellal. Geraniol and citronellal has been obtained from the distillation of sereh wangi and to be form as essential oil. These oil are volatile and thus require a good carried system. To overcome the problem sereh wangi essential oil needs to be made in stable nanoemulsions form. In this research 5 formulation with sereh wangi essential oil as an active ingredient, tween 80 as emulsifier and buffer phosphate as the aqueous phase has to be made. Tween 80 had different concentrations in each formulas that are 20%, 40%, 60 %, 80% and 100% from total sereh wangi essential oil concentrations ( 5 grams for each formulas). Nanoemulsion was made by spontaneous diffusion technique. The result of homigenity test research showed just formula 2 and formula 3 stable which 211-216 nm particle size, with ranged polydispersity index value between 0,373 – 0,423, the highest viscosity values in the formula 2 with 10 centipoise, on the storage freeze-thawing formula 2 has the best stabilize, with zetapotencial values between -23,6 mV – 21,8 mV, microstructure with SEM (Scanning electron microscope) had seen good spread with a spherical particle shape, densicity values between 30 Dynes/cm – 38,8 Dynes/cm. tween 80 concentration that produce the best formula is 40% from total 5grams sereh wangi essential oil.
