Abstract

Cancer is one of agent factor of the highest death rate in women especially breast. The breast cancer or carcinoma mamae cancer is a cancer in breast tissue which is a disease maglignant neoplastic derived from parenchyma and dominant in nursing women. Bulbs anthill contains flavonoid compounds suspected may treat different types of cancer. The main point of this research is knowing the cytotoxic effect on buthanol fractio of bulbs anthill (Myrmecodia erinaceae Becc) by looking at MCF-7cell proliferation and Vero cell with MTT method at a consentration of 750 ppm, 500 ppm, 250 ppm, 125 ppm, 62,5 ppm, 31,25 ppm and a doxorubisin as a positive control at a consentration of 5 ppm. IC50 value is calculated using linear regression between consentration and inhibition percent, in the MCF-7 cell that IC50 value is 400,46 ppm and Verro cell as a comparison cell which has IC50 value equal to 692,16 ppm. The result of research that Buthanol fraction of bulbs anthill (Myrmecodia erinaceae Becc) has cytotoxic effect to MCF-7 cell and Vero cell. The result of phytochemical screening shows that Buthanol fraction of bulbs anthill has class of compounds containing saponins, flavonoids, terpenoid, reducing sugar and polyphenol, known having anti-cancer activity.
