Abstract
ultraviolet rays specifically from the sun. Excessive exposure to radiation on the skin can cause erythema (redness of the skin) and pigmentation (darkness of the skin). Mahkota dewa fruit (Phaleria macrocapha (scheff) Boerl,) has a benzophenone compound which is mangiferin (C19 H18 O11) has a double bond conjugation that is capable of absorbing specifically UV radiation as a chemical absorbent. This study aims to test the effectiveness of Mangiferin (C19 H18 O11) compound which was isolated from the mahkota dewa fruit as sunscreen ingredients on white rats (Sprague dawley), in-vivo with a concentration of 12,5%; 25%, 50%. The parameters examined is Testing the Effectiveness of Sunscreen in White Rats in-vivo. The mangiferin (C19 H18 O11) compounds isolated from the mahkota dewa (Phaleria macrocapha (scheff) Boerl,) fruit able to absorb UV light effectively so that it has the effectiveness as a sunscreen, in-vivo in male white rats (Sprague dawley) at a concentration of 25%. Keywords: Sunscreen, Erythema Effectiveness, Percent, Isolate Mangiferin, Oxybenzone and Mahkoa Dewa (Phaleria macrocarpa [Scheff.] Boerl.).
