Abstract
Different types of bacteria live as normal flora in human skin, most of them are gram-positive bacteria. Staphylococcus aureus is a major pathogen in humans. In addition to gram-positive bacteria pathogens, there are some gram-negative bacteria pathogens, such as Escherichia coli. Escherichia coli infection including diarrhea with blood, stomach cramps, fever, and sometimes lead to kidneys disorders. Products to maintain personal hygiene like soap, mouthwash, lotions and others that contain antibacterial ingredients in order to give extra protection against germs that cause disease. Kirinyuh leaves (Chromolaena odorata L. R. M. King and H. Rob.) are useful as an antibacterial. The study aims to determine whether the extract of kirinyuh leaves (Chromolaena odorata L. R. M. King and H. Rob.) can be formulated into liquid soap dosage and have antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. Antibacterial activity test of liquid soap formulation of kirinyuh leaves extract against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli were divided into 5 groups with 3 variation group of kirinyuh leaves extract concentration in liquid soap formulation consists of formulation I (extract 6.5%), formulation II (extract 12.5%), formulation III (extract 25%). Negative Control Group (KKN) in the form of liquid soap formulation without any extract and Positive Control Group (KKP) using dettol liquid soap. The results showed that the formulation of kirinyuh leaf extract liquid soap (LRM King Chromolaena odorata and H. Rob.) have antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli with the best concentration of kirinyuh leaf extracts is in the formulation II and III with the most stable formula is the formulation II. Keywords: Liquid soap, kirinyuh (Chromolaena Odorata L. R. M. King dan H. Rob.), antibacterial
